“The moon is full and so are we. Seven drunken pirates were the seven deadly sins!” Looking out the passenger side window I could see the full moon. Perfect timing as I was headed to the House Of Blues in Hollywood to watch Flogging Molly do what they do best; Put on a memorable show to an audience of devoted fans. As my friend Andres and I approached the HOB the signs of a punk rock show that was going to take place was visible.

The crowd that Flogging Molly draws is a diverse one. There music is labeled Celtic-Punk but people of all ages are in line waiting to get in. Flogging Molly is currently on its Green 17 Tour for 2012. With this new tour they have changed their set list to include songs they had not played on stage in years. The doors finally opened at 7pm and we all filed in. The first band to hit the stage was Sean Wheeler & Zander Schloss. Zander is legend in the punk rock scene for his work in The Weirdos and The Circle Jerks. Zander and Sean embodied the blues style that was prominent in the 1930s and now. The acoustic playing of Zander and the haunting voice of Wheeler had the House Of Blues captivated through their whole set.  Here is a bit of what they sound like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JXVqV1KbZs

The set ended too soon as they walked off stage. Another thirty minutes and the next band hit the stage. The second band to take the stage was Suedehead. A soul pop band they had the crowd moving and just as the first band, the set ended way too quickly. Suedehead left the stage and up next was Flogging Molly!

Around 9:30 the stage darkened and the Flogging Molly banner dropped.

Johnny Cash's cover of “Redemption Songs” was blasting over the loud speakers as Flogging Molly took the stage. With no introduction they broke straight into “Drunken Lullabies” and the crowd lost its mind. Check out the music video for “Drunken Lullabies” here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDwlGbEcJ6Y
The set list for Flogging Molly went as followed

1.Drunken Lullabies
2.Requiem for a Dying Song
3.Speed of Darkness
4.Revolution
5.Life in a Tenement Square
6.Whistles the Wind
7.Saints & Sinners
8.The Likes of You Again

10.The Power's Out
11.The Son Never Shines (On Closed Doors)

It being my second time seeing Flogging Molly, the set list was rearranged differently for this tour. Also they had not performed some songs in years, like“Life In a Tenement Square”
which is a track off their first album “Swagger.” The energy Flogging Molly has on stage is flawless and relentless throughout the set. Even on slow songs like “If I Ever Leave This World Alive” the crowd could not stand still.
